IRA victims protest at Downing Street over OTR letters (Belfast NewsLetter)

IRA victims from around Great Britain held a protest at Downing Street at the weekend to show their disgust at ‘comfort letters’ provided to on the run IRA members.

Julie Hambleton of the Justice for the 21 campaign said some 30 people took part in the protest. Her sister Maxine was one of those murdered in the IRA’s Birmingham bombs in 1974.

“We weren’t bothered by the police because we have established ourselves as a group that don’t create any problems,” she said. “About 30 people turned up, from Birmingham, Essex, Kent and Manchester.

“They are very supportive and try to make it to any protest. They were keen to show their outrage and disgust outside Downing Street regarding the comfort letters given to republicans.”
