SIMBOLOGIA, ARTE E RIVENDICAZIONE CULTURALE: I MURALES
Il Nord Irlanda è da secoli una terra contesa, la massiccia colonizzazione del 17° secolo ha creato, nei secoli a venire, una tanto esplosiva quanto pericolosa promiscuità etno-politico-culturale tra la popolazione autoctona Irlandese e quella Britannica trapiantata sul suolo Irlandese.
Al giorno d’oggi, qualsiasi tratto identitario delle due culture è sacro per le due comunità. La simbologia, nelle città delle Sei Contee, è un aspetto fondamentale e ricorrente. I murales fanno parte di questa simbologia e, sopratutto dopo gli accordi di pace, hanno ricoperto le facciate delle case e i muri dei vari quartieri delle città, contribuendo anche a dare qualche nota di colore a questi luoghi martoriati, che a fatica cercano di risollevarsi dalle miserie della guerra.
I murales raccontano storie, celebrano eroi, ricordano caduti, reclamano giustizia e denunciano i problemi attuali e gli ostacoli nel lungo e travagliato percorso di pacificazione tra le comunità.
Un viaggio nel Nord Irlanda non può tralasciare queste vere e proprie opere d’arte, nonché libri aperti sulla travagliata storia di questo magnifico Paese.
Questa gallery è un viaggio nella creatività e nell’arte muraria delle due comunità, e allo stesso tempo una finestra affacciata sulla loro storia.

Per la precisione storica, non per pedanteria:
il mural (peraltro molto bello, tutto rosso) presumibilmente dedicato a Ernesto Guevara Linch” (padre di Ernesto CHE Guevara; segnalo che indegnamente ho potuto conoscerlo nei primi anni ottanta)) contiene un errore (perdoniamo pure i compagni irlandesi, ma segnaliamolo ugualmente).
Se quello è il nome del padre del CHE, padre che però non era soprannominato “Che” (ovviamente), bisognerebbe togliere il “CHE” (magari ricoprirlo con una stella rossa…).
Se invece è dedicato al CHE, va tolto Linch e sostituito con de la Serna.
Come è noto in spagnolo si usano entrambi i cognomi, quello del padre seguito da quello della madre. Il nome vero e completo del CHE era:
Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (dal cognome della madre, Celia de la Serna)
universalmente conosciuto come il CHE.
