Il gruppo dissidente repubblicano si identifica ad un quotidiano locale e ammette le proprie responsabilità

L’esplosione era avvenuto alle 3.30 circa di lunedì notte presso il City of Culture Office nella vicinanze della Guildhall Place. Un ordigno di piccole dimensioni che ha provocato lievi danni alla porta di ingresso dell’edificio. Nessun ferito.
Per contro sono stati molti i disagi causati al traffico ed alle attività commerciali della zona dato che l’area era rimasta cordonata per parecchie ore dalle forze di sicurezza la cui presenza è stata massiccia.
La PSNI si è detta ansiosa di poter parlare con tutti i tassisti che al momento dell’esplosione prestavano servizio nella zona e che potrebbero aver dato un passaggio a 2 uomini in abiti scuri.

Dissidents claim Derry bomb (UTV)
The Real IRA have claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on the City of Culture office in Londonderry.
In a phonecall to a Derry newspaper, using a recognised code word, dissident republicans said they were behind Monday morning’s explosion.
No one was injured when the small device went off just outside the premises close to Guildhall Square at about 3.30am.
Damage was caused to the doors of the building and morning traffic and trade were also disrupted by road closures.
Mayor of Derry, Colum Eastwood, told UTV the explosion was a symbolic attack “on all the people of the city.
Police are keen to speak to any taxi drivers who were in the area and who may have picked up two men in dark clothing.
They are also appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
