The Five Demands

Il Republican Network for Unity ha organizzato, per domani 23 maggio, un incontro durante il quale verranno dibattuti gli eventi salienti che hanno caratterizzato l’Hunger Strike del 1981, nel tentativo di cercar di far luce sui punti oscuri di quella che viene ricordato come forse il più tragico avvenimento che ha segnato o forse è stata la chiave di volta del conflitto nordirlandese.
Tra i relatori ci saranno Richard O’ Rawe, Eamon Mc Cann, Willie Gallagher, Liam Clarke, e vedrà la presenza di esponenti repubblicani di quell’epoca oltre a molti dei familiari dei ‘martiri’ del 1981.
L’incontro avrà luogo a Derry presso il Gasyard alle ore 19.00.

The truth behind the hungerstrike (Republican Network for Unity)
This public meeting will debate the key events surrounding the 1981 hungerstrike. It analyses the build up and roles played by all parties. The panel includes Richard O’ Rawe, Eamon Mc Cann, Willie Gallagher, Liam Clarke. Invites have also been sent to other leading republicans of the period; and many of the hunger strikers families will also be in attendance. Additionally, it examines all the recent evidence which has come to light on this critical period in Irish republican history
