Claims that dissident republican has been ordered to leave the city or be shot (Derry Journal)

A prominent dissident republican has been ordered to leave the city or face being shot, republican sources have claimed.

It is understood the PSNI visited the man, a well-known dissident republican, on Monday and advised him that they are aware of a threat against his life.

Republican sources have indicated that the man was given 48 hours to leave the city or else he would be shot. It is believed that the man involved has already left the city.

It has bee n reported that the man at the centre of the claims has been associated with at least two different dissident republican organisations in recent years.

It is unclear which armed group is responsible for the threat against the man’s life.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said; “We do not discuss the security of any individual. However, if we receive information that a person’s life may be at risk we will inform the relevant persons accordingly. We never ignore anything which may put an individual at risk.”
