‘Shots fired’ in Rosemount (Derry Journal)
Police in Derry are investigating a report of shots being fired in the Rosemount area of the city.
It is believed the shots were been fired over the coffin of Seamus ‘Chang’ Coyle, a local republican, who died at the weekend.
Mr Coyle’s funeral cortege left Rosemount Gardens this morning before Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Creggan.
Republican sources have said he was previously associated with the republican socialist movement in the city.
A PSNI spokesperson confirmed; “Police received reports of shots in the Rosemount area.”
