Polish family flee loyalist Mount Vernon estate following spate of attacks (Belfast Telegraph)

A young Polish family have fled their home in a loyalist area after two attacks in three days.

Imelia Farbiszewska described those behind the north Belfast attacks as “animals”.

The family car was burned out on Saturday, before bricks were hurled at the Mount Vernon home in the early hours of Monday morning.

Ms Farbiszewska, her partner Marcin Zyczko and their two young children – aged just nine and five years old – had been staying with relatives.

The couple arrived home yesterday to find glass showered over the bed where their nine-year-old son usually slept.

It came just two days after their car was attacked – which was a replacement for another car that had been vandalised a week earlier.

Ms Farbiszewska said: “We have no idea why this is happening. Everyone around us, all our neighbours, are really friendly.

“There is no words to describe those who are doing this – they are animals.”

Mr Zyczko added: “It’s the car one time, then the house. I don’t want to think about what could be next. We don’t feel safe in this house.”

The family have now moved out.

“We just don’t want to live here anymore. We can’t bring the children back and we can’t sleep in this house,” Ms Farbiszewska said.

Police said they are still investigating a motive.
