Alert in Fintona after police stop van (UTV)
Police are examining a van at the centre of a security alert in Fintona, Co Tyrone.
The vehicle was stopped along the Corbally Road at around 2am on Tuesday.
Two men were arrested.
The alert was sparked during the follow-up operation and officers from the army bomb squad are now carrying out examinations on the van.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “ATO has been tasked to examine the van and police are currently conducting a search and security operation involving officers from F District and Crime Operations Department.”
A small number of homes in the local area have been evacuated.
Tattymoyle Road, between Fintona and Tempo, is closed. Diversions are in place at the Lisdergan Road junction and Imeroo Crossroads.
Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route where possible.
