Extra time to question McConville suspect (UTV)
Police have been granted extra time to question a pensioner over the 1972 abduction and murder of widow and mother-of-10 Jean McConville.
A 77-year-old man was arrested in west Belfast on Tuesday by detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch.
The suspect was taken to the Serious Crime Suite in Antrim for questioning.
On Thursday, a court granted the PSNI until Friday night to question the man.
Mrs McConville was kidnapped from her flat in the Divis area in December 1972 and shot by the IRA.
The 37-year-old’s body was not recovered until years later, when it when it was found on a beach in Co Louth in August 2003.
