“ATTIVITA’ SOSPETTE” A DERRY

‘Nothing untoward’ in Derry searches (UTV)

A security operation in Londonderry has ended after nothing untoward was found – but police are warning people to stay vigilant.

The army bomb squad was called to the Buncrana Road area of the city on Wednesday morning following reports of suspicious activity.

Searches took place at the scene and a number of roads were closed to traffic.

Police said nothing was found.

A spokesperson added: “While nothing untoward was found, should someone come across a suspicious object that they do not touch it and contact police straight away.

“We also ask that anyone who sees anyone acting suspiciously in the area contacts police.”

All roads which were closed in the area have now been reopened.

The PSNI continued: “If anyone has any information which would assist the Police please contact police at Strand Road station on 0845 600 8000.

“Police would also like to thank the public for their cooperation during this policing operation.”
