Nella giornata di ieri il ritorno a casa della salma di Ronan Kerr, il neo agente della PSNI ucciso da una booby trap bomb sabato 2 aprile a Omagh
La salma di Ronan Kerr, l’agente della PSNI ucciso all’età di 25 anni, nel pomeriggio di sabato 2 aprile, ha fatto ritorno a casa nella serata di ieri. Una scorta della polizia ha accompagnato il corteo in lento viaggio verso Beragh.
I funerali sono stati fissati per domani 6 aprile. La cerimonia sarà celebrata presso la Chiesa dell’Immacolata Concezione a mezzogiorno, e seguirà la sepoltura presso il cimitero di Drumduff.
Certa la presenza del Primo Ministro Peter Robinson, e si ritiene probabile la partecipazione del Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
L’Irish Congress of Trade Unions ha organizzato una marcia pacifica a Belfast per dar modo alla popolazione di manifestare il proprio orrore per l’assassinio.
Funeral plans for murdered constable (UTV)
The funeral of murdered police officer Ronan Kerr is due to take place on Wednesday.
The body of the 25 year-old was returned to the family home in Beragh on Monday night.
Constable Kerr was killed by a booby trap car bomb as he stepped into his car on his way to work on Saturday.
His requiem mass will take place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at midday with burial afterwards in Drumduff cemetery.
The First Minister Peter Robinson has said he wants to attend the service for the murdered police officer.
It is believed that Taoiseach Enda Kenny will also be there.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has organised a massive peace rally in Belfast city centre on Wednesday to allow people to show abhorrence for the murder.
Peter Bunting, Assistant General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, said: “The murder of Police Officer Ronan Kerr in Omagh was an attack on a brave public servant and therefore an attack on every worker who serves the community and works towards a better future.”
A book of condolence has been opened for Constable Kerr in Omagh.
