Operazione della PSNI a Cookstown, sequestrate armi e munizioni
L’operazione congiunta tra Garda e PSNI sta dando i suoi frutti.
Dopo i ‘significativi’ ritrovamenti di armi, munizioni, materiale esplosivo e componenti di ordigni, si registra un successo della PSNI a Cookstown.
La scorsa notte è stata fermata un’auto a bordo della quale sono stati rivenuti un’arma da fuoco e quantitativo di munizioni. Quattro le persone arrestate.
Billy Armstrong, rappresentante UUP, ha dichiarato: “Come la stragrande maggioranza della comunità locale, sono lieto di vedere la PSNI mirare attivamente i dissidenti, e accolgo con favore gli arresti della notte scorsa a Cookstown e il recupero di un’arma da fuoco e munizioni”, ha detto il MLA.
“E ‘assolutamente indispensabile che tutti i nostri sforzi si concentrino sul ricostruire l’economia locale e fornire posti di lavoro di cui il nostro popoloha così disperatamente bisogno. I dissidenti non offrono nulla di tutto questo, possono solo distruggere la vita e distruggere l’economia, perpetuare la miseria e di conseguenza è necessario sconfiggerli “.

Four arrested in Cookstown dissident probe (U TV)
Four men have been arrested after police investigating dissident republican activity stopped a car in Cookstown on Monday night.
A firearm and quantity of ammunition were also seized after the vehicle was searched.
It comes after Gardai uncovered a “significant” arms dump in a wooded area near Dunleer in Co Louth on Monday morning.
Bomb-making equipment including three kilos of TNT and an improvised mortar were amongst the items found.
At the weekend, Semtex plastic explosive and detonators were seized during raids across counties Louth and Meath.
Ten people were arrested – one was charged with unlawful possession of weapons and one with membership of an illegal organisation. Eight were later released after questioning.
Ulster Unionist Mid-Ulster representative Billy Armstrong says he is “delighted” to see Monday night’s police operation in Co Tyrone result in arrests.
“Like the vast majority of local people, I am delighted to see the PSNI are actively targeting the dissidents, and I welcome the arrests in Cookstown last night and the recovery of a weapon and ammunition,” the MLA said.
“It is absolutely essential that all our efforts must be focused on re-building the local economy and providing the jobs which our people so desperately need. Dissidents offer none of the above, they can only destroy lives and wreck the economy, perpetuate misery and as a result they must be defeated.”
