Indagine dopo l’accusa contro la PSNI per aver chiesto ad un 19enne di aderire ad un gruppo dissidente

L’indagine contro il Police Service of Northern Ireland è scattata dopo che un giornale ha dato risalto alle accuse  di un ragazzo di 19 anni, secondo le quali la polizia gli avrebbe chiesto di aderire ad un gruppo dissidente in cambio della propria libertà.
Il giovane avrebbe dovuto entrare a far parte di un gruppo dissidente, sorvegliarne i membri, piazzare una pistola presso l’abitazione di ‘comrade’ e una quantitativo di semtex presso l’abitazione di un altro.
Solo in questo modo il ragazzo avrebbe visto cadere ogni onere derivato dal suo arresto per taccheggio.
E non è tutto,  se il giovane di West Belfast si fosse rifiutato di sottostare alle richieste degli agenti della PSNI, false accuse penali gli sarebbero state imputate.
Il Police Ombudsman, Al Hutchinson, che le accuse così come riportate, sono molto gravi: “Le affermazioni del giovane sono che la polizia ha tentato su diversi livelli di deviare il corso della giustizia”.
“Le azioni di polizia deve essere studiate integralmente”.
“Se le persone devono avere fiducia nel sistema giudiziario penale devono essere certi che la polizia non sia al di sopra della legge”.

An investigation is to be launched into allegations police asked a west Belfast teenager to join a dissident republican group and plant explosives on his neighbours.
Police Ombudsman Al Hutchinson confirmed his Office will investigate claims reported in a newspaper on Tuesday that officers asked the 19-year-old to commit criminal offences in return for having shoplifting charges dropped.
The newspaper reported the young man’s claims that, while under arrest for shoplifting, police asked him to monitor a number of people, join a dissident group and report to them on its activities, plant a gun in a neighbour’s car and to leave Semtex explosives in a garden shed.
The teenager also told the Irish News police threatened to lay false criminal charges against him if he refused.
Al Hutchinson said the allegations as reported were extremely serious.
“The allegations made by this young man are that at several levels police attempted to pervert the course of justice,” he said.
“The police actions must be investigated fully.
“If people are to have confidence in the criminal justice system they must be assured that the police are not above the law.”
