Prima riunione del gruppo di lavoro per la risoluzione della controversie sulle parate

L’Esecutivo ha annunciato che si terranno colloqui quotidiani per cercare di giungere ad una soluzione sulla disputa delle parate orangiste.
A discutere della questione è e sarà il gruppo di lavoro formato da sei membri provienienti dalle file del Sinn Fein e del DUP.
Gerry Kelly, del maggior partito repubblicano, ha confermato la pianificazione di un calendario di incontri ed ha tenuto a precisare che “non abbiamo detto che si risolverà la questione dei cortei in due o tre settimane, cercheremo di mettere insieme una struttura che lo renderà più facile” ed ha aggiunto: “Dovrà essere risolta tra i residenti e le persone che marciano in quelle zone, rendendo più facile il dialogo e la risoluzione”.
I residenti delle aree nazionaliste come il North Belfast e Portadown, contea di Armagh, si oppongono al passaggio delle parate orangiste nei pressi delle loro case, perchè viste con un unico scopo trionfalistico.
Opposta la visione dei membri degli ordini lealisti che ritengono oltraggiose le pretese dei nazionalisti  perchè irrispettosi del loro tradizionale diritto di dimostrare per le strade.
Il SDLP ha lamentato il fatto che il gruppo di lavoro sulla controversie delle parate orangiste, non sia stato aperto anche ad esperti e ad esponenti di altri partiti politici. Accusa subito controbattuta da Gerry Kelly che ha confermato l’intenzione di aprire il dialogo anche alle altri fazioni politiche ma non senza averne riferito preventivamente con il Primo e ilVice Primo Ministro.

Daily meetings are to be held to find a way forward on Northern Ireland’s parading dispute, the Executive has announced.
A working group of six Assembly members from Sinn Fein and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) held its first discussions at Stormont on Tuesday, with a deadline for negotiations later in the month.
Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly said a schedule of work had been agreed and the atmosphere was “business-like”.
“We have not said that we will sort out the issue of contentious parades in two or three weeks, we will try to put together a structure that will make it easier,” he added.
“It has to be sorted out between the residents and the people who march in those areas, making dialogue and resolution easier.
Nationalist residents in mainly working-class areas like north Belfast and Portadown, Co Armagh, oppose Orange Order processions past their houses because they see them as triumphalistic.
Members of the loyal orders accuse householders of going out of their way to be offended and maintain it is their traditional right to demonstrate on the streets.
The government-appointed Parades Commission has been criticised by unionists for barring Orange demonstrations like that at Drumcree, Portadown, from walking along the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road.
The parades working group has been criticised by the nationalist SDLP for not including the other parties and non-political experts.
Mr Kelly, a junior minister in the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, said they planned to involve other “stakeholders” but were reporting to the First Minister Peter Robinson and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.
