Il dissidente repubblicano è stato arrestato mentre stava lasciando il carcere inglese nel quale era attualmente detenuto

Paddy Murray, 47 anni e  sospettato di essere informatore della polizia (accusa negata dalla moglie alcuni mesi fa), è stato quest’oggi arrestato dal Police Service of Northern Ireland mentre stava abbandonando il carcere inglese, dove era stato traferito dopo aver scontato solo un mese dei quattro anni inflittigli con l’ultima condanna, presso il carcere di Maghaberry.
Condannato nel 1994 a 25 anni per possesso di esplosivo, venne rilasciato nel 2000 beneficiando del Good Friday Agreement. Ritornò poi in carcere dopo essere stato condannato a 4 anni per rapimento e aggressione ad Antrim.
Dopo solo un mese trascorso nella prigione di Maghaberry, Murray venne trasferito in un carcere inglese alimentando le già forti convinzioni che fosse divenuto un informatore delle forze di sicurezza britanniche.
L’arresto di quest’oggi, attuato dalla PSNI, è avvenuto con la collaborazione dei forze di sicurezza inglesi.
Il prigioniero si trova ora sotto interrogatorio.

Dissident Detained Leaving English Jail (4 NI)
An alleged police informer jailed for handling republican terrorist explosives has been arrested while leaving an English prison.
Dissident Paddy Murray is being detained by PSNI detectives, with the support of English forces.
The 47-year-old former IRA prisoner was handed a 25-year sentence in 1994 for possession of explosives.
He was released in 2000 under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Murray was later returned to prison after being convicted of a kidnap and assault in Antrim.
He only served one month of the four-year sentence in Maghaberry Prison before being switched to a facility in England.
The move was prompted by allegations Murray had worked as a security force informer.
Northern Ireland police officers made their arrest as he left jail today.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “A 47-year-old man has been arrested in relation to serious crime in Northern Ireland.
“He was arrested in England by detectives from the PSNI working in association with English police. He is being questioned in England.”
