L’Acting Chief Constable del PSNI esterna la consapevolezza di non poter prendere sotto gamba i dissidenti repubblicani

I dissidenti rappresentano un’attuale grave minaccia, e il PSNI per bocca di Judith Gillespie, Acting Chief Constable, non lo nasconde.
“Noi non lo diciamo con leggerezza, si tratta di una grave minaccia alle forze di polizia che ne sono l’obiettivo”, ha affermato la Gillespie facendo riferimento agli attacchi di un paio di giorni fa ai danni dei familiari di un poliziotto in servizio a Derry. Attacchi definiti ‘deprecabili’.
Sempre la scorsa settimana nel South Armagh, era stato disinnescato un ordigno fabbricato con 600 libre di esplosivo e sono trapelate informazioni secondo le quali i dissidenti repubblicani sarebbero in possesso di un secondo dispositivo sempre di grandi dimensioni.

Dissident threat remains ‘severe’ (BBC News Northern Ireland)
The threat from dissident republicans remains “severe”, PSNI Acting Chief Constable Judith Gillespie has said.
It follows the discovery of a 600lb bomb in a border area this week and reports that dissidents may have a second large device.
Relatives of a police officer in Londonderry were also targeted with devices being left at two homes.
“We don’t say that lightly – it is a severe threat to police officers that’s the target,” she said.
“If you look, for example, at what happened in Derry in the last couple of days when a police officer from the area serving the community, their family was targeted, was absolutely despicable.”
Mrs Gillespie said police needed their extra powers to help keep the public safe.
