L’Ulster Political Research Group (UPRG), braccio politico dell’UDA, ha rilasciato una dichiarazione che condanna con fermezza l’omicidio settario avvenuto la scorsa domenica a Coleraine.
Ha dichiarato: “L’Ulster Political Research Group condanna fermamente l’assassinio del sig McDaid e coloro che cercano di provocare tensioni comunità”.
“Non vi può essere alcuna giustificazione per aver tolto una vita, non ci può essere nessun motivo o pretesto”.
“Siamo consapevoli del fatto che le tensioni sono elevate nella comunità in generale, ma ci appelliamo alla calma e al buon senso”.
“Sappiamo che i fatti che circondano questo incidente sono ancora in fase di indagine dal PSNI e invitiamo la comunità a dare il proprio pieno appoggio. L’UPRG chiede un’indagine completa sulle circostanze di questo incidente”.
“non ci sono scuse per coloro che cercano di portarci indietro nel tempo, per sfruttare questa comunità per i propri fini”.

Intanto oggi si riunirà la Commission Parade al fine di rivedere il percorso della parata della Pride of the Bann flute band, che vedrà la presenza di 40 bande e 2000 partecipanti. In origine la parata avrebbe dovuto sfilare in Killowen Street a Coleraine, vicino al luogo dove è stato assassinato Kevin McDaid. Alla luce dei nuovi disordini, la commissione ritiene di dover riprendere in considerazione la decisione di alcune settimane fa.

The political representatives of the UDA — the Ulster Political Research Group (UPRG) — have issued a statement strongly condemning the murder.
“The Ulster Political Research Group utterly condemns the murder of Mr McDaid and those who would seek to cause community tensions,” they stated.
“There can be no justification for taking of life, there can be no reason or excuse.
“We understand that community tensions in the general area have been running high but appeal for calm and common sense to be exercised.
“It is our understanding that the facts surrounding this incident are still being gathered by the PSNI and call on the community to give them their full support. The UPRG are calling for a full inquiry into the complete circumstances surrounding this incident.
“We must not leave any stone unturned or leave any excuse for those who would seek to take us back to the past to exploit this community for their own ends.”

Loyalist band parade may pass murder scene (Belfast Telegraph)
The Parades Commission is set to rule today on a loyalist band parade scheduled to pass close by the murder scene.
The Pride of the Bann flute band from Coleraine had previously been given permission for the parade, which will feature 40 bands and 2,000 participants. It is scheduled to pass Killowen Street, near where Kevin McDaid was murdered.
A spokesman for the Parades Commission said the original decision had been made weeks ago. He said the commission would look again at the issue during a meeting today.
