L’Assembly è stata chiamata a discutere di una proposta che invita il Northern Ireland Office (NIO) a finanziare un museo ‘in onore’ del Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC).
La RUC George Cross Foundation è da anni oggetto di pressioni per costruire un museo accanto al suo giardino della commemorazione pressio il quartier generale del PSNI.
Anche l’Heritage Lottery Fund è chiamata a contribuire.
Jim McDonald, un fiduciario della fondazione, ha detto il museo racchiuderebbe una varietà di ‘storia’ del RUC.
“Il giardino racconta una particolare storia, il museoracconterà una varietà di storie  nel contesto di quel periodo, perché siamo fortunati nell’avere un grande serbatoio di materiale”, ha dichiarato.
La fondazione ha recentemente acquistato una medaglia di cui era stato insigni Gerge Cross negli anni ’50 per aver difesto Rosslea.

The assembly is to debate a proposal calling on the Northern Ireland Office to help fund a museum to honour the Royal Ulster Constabulary. The RUC George Cross Foundation has been lobbying for several years to build a museum beside its commemoration garden at PSNI headquarters. The foundation has applied for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and NIO. Jim McDonald, a trustee of the foundation, said the museum would have a “variety of stories” about the RUC. “The garden tells one particular story, the museum will tell a variety of stories and tell it in the context of that period because we are fortunate in the historical society to have a large reservoir of material,” he said. “We recently bought a George medal which was awarded to a sergeant in the 1950s for his defence of Rosslea.”
