A police search operation, linked to an ongoing probe into dissident republican terrorist activity, has ended in Lurgan.

Police carried out the searches in the Victoria Street area of the Co Armagh town on Thursday.

A number of homes were evacuated while detectives from Serious Crime Branch searched the area. Residents have since been allowed to return to their properties.

A number of items were taken away for forensic examinations.
