Man, 56, arrested in McConville case (UTV)
A man has been arrested in west Belfast as part of investigations into the 1972 abduction and murder of widow and mother-of-10 Jean McConville.
The 56-year-old was detained by officers from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch on Wednesday.
He has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
Mrs McConville was kidnapped from her flat in the Divis area in December 1972 and shot by the IRA.
The 37-year-old’s body was not recovered until years later, when it when it was found on a beach in Co Louth in August 2003.
Wednesday’s arrest comes after veteran republican Ivor Bell was charged in connection with the case last month.
The 77-year-old, from Ramoan Gardens in west Belfast, has appeared in court on counts of aiding and abetting the murder and of IRA membership.
