ARRESTI TRA LE FILE UVF PER L’OMICIDIO DI 2 CATTOLICI NEL 1994
Arrests made in 1994 UVF murders (UTV)
Three men have been arrested as part of an investigation into the murders of two Catholic workmen in north Belfast almost 20 years ago.
Gary Convie, 24, and 44-year-old Eamon Fox were sitting in their car at a building site in North Queen Street on 17 May 1994 when a gunman opened fire with a submachine gun.
On Tuesday, three men aged 43, 52 and 65 were arrested in Templepatrick, Newtownabbey and Antrim.
They have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning.
The arrests are part of the PSNI’s Operation Stafford, which is investigating a series of murders and other serious crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.
One man has been previously convicted of the killings and in January a second man was charged with the murders and is currently on bail awaiting trial.
I hope all those, whether they are republican or loyalist, who committed cold blooded murder, are brought before the courts, and made answerable for these heinous crimes.
