PROVISIONAL IRA ‘COLLEGATA’ AL TENTATO OMICIDIO DEL POLIZIOTTO IN PENSIONE?

Car bombers ‘directly linked’ to PIRA (UTV)
There is a “direct link” between those who tried to kill a retired policeman with a booby trap bomb and the Provisional IRA, an MLA has claimed.
The former officer who was targeted spotted the device just as he was getting into his car to take his 12-year-old daughter to school last Friday.
Dissident republicans have been blamed for the east Belfast murder attempt, which police said was strikingly similar to past car bomb attacks by the paramilitary groupings.
Ross Hussey told the Assembly: “If we look at the history of the car bomb, and the history of those who planted under-car booby traps, we can see a direct link to the Provisional IRA.
“In my opinion, those who planted this bomb have a direct link to that organisation.”
The Ulster Unionist member added: “Someone once said: ‘They haven’t gone away, you know’. It is quite clear to all of us that they have not gone away, and they are still here.”
North Belfast MLA Gerry Kelly, of Sinn Féin, condemned the attack and urged anyone with information to pass it on to the police.
He continued: “There is no reason. I agree with the member who has just spoken. The whole of society wants to move on.
“Anyone with information should bring it forward.”
