ATTACCO SETTARIO A WEST BELFAST

‘Sectarian’ attack on Belfast house (UTV)

Police are investigating reports of an attack on a house in west Belfast, which a local DUP councillor says was sectarian.

A window of the property at Kells Avenue in the Suffolk area was damaged overnight.

Brian Kingston claimed a couple and two young children were inside but were not injured when the attack happened at around 3am on Sunday.

He said a broken piece of paving stone had been thrown through the window.

Condemning the attack, the west Belfast DUP man added: “It is outrageous and vile that people should be subjected to such sectarian attacks in their own home in the middle of the night.

“This same house was targeted in a petrol bomb attack on 19 June.

“I call on community and elected representatives from both sides of the community to speak out against these continuing sectarian attacks and to join me in calling for information to be brought forward which would bring those responsible to justice.”

The incident has been reported to police who have begun an investigation.

A statement from the PSNI said: “Neighbourhood officers will be contacting the occupant to discuss this and several other recent incidents at the property.”
