DUE UOMINI INCRIMINATI PER IL MORTAIO IN ‘STILE IRACHENO’
Three charged over ‘Iraq-style mortar’ (UTV)
Three men have been charged after a mortar bomb was found in a car in Londonderry.
An explosively formed projectile (EFP) – similar to those used by insurgents in Iraq – was discovered when police stopped a vehicle in the Creggan area on Thursday evening.
Two men aged 47 and a 40-year-old man have been charged with possession of explosives with intent to endanger life, conspiracy to murder.
They are also facing a charge of possession of articles for use in terrorism and are due to appear at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
A 41-year-old man has been released unconditionally.
On Friday Chief Superintendent Stephen Martin said the device would have been used to target police vehicles in an attempt to kill officers.
