Controlled explosions in city alert (UTV)
Two controlled explosions have been carried out at the scene of an overnight security alert in west Belfast.
The alert was sparked by the discovery of a suspect object in the garden of a house in the St James’ area at 11.30pm on Tuesday.
It was later declared viable by army bomb experts.
A number of families were evacuated from their homes while the device was examined.
Whiterock Leisure Centre and a local community centre were made available to residents.
The alert ended at just after 6am on Wednesday.
Police would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.
