CREGGAN. LA RAAD RIVENDICA PIPE BOMB CONTRO LA PSNI

RAAD carried out PSNI murder bid (UTV)
Dissident republican group Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) has said it was responsible for a weekend bomb attack on police, which the PSNI labelled the “attempted murder” of officers.
The device was thrown at police as they carried out raids in the Rathmore Park area of the Creggan shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
No one was injured but a police vehicle was badly damaged.
RAAD claim the attack, which used a “newly-developed explosive device”, was carried out because of “the increased and even more brutal attacks on republicans and their families”.
It is the first time the group has targeted police and RAAD warned that the attacks would continue “‘as long as the security forces victimise republican areas”.
On Friday, petrol bombs and stones were thrown at police during a separate raid in the Creggan area.
Items – including guns understood to be used by RAAD – were seized during the searches and taken away for further examination.
In the statement, the vigilante group said recent searches and arrests had been “instigated by Sinn Féin” and one party member was accused of “conniving by phone” with the security forces during a recent search.
RAAD said Sinn Féin was to blame for the recent upsurge in trouble in republican areas, which was a response to “security force brutality”.
