FIDUCIA IN CRESCITA NELLA PSNI
Public confidence in PSNI rises (UTV)
Confidence in the PSNI is on the rise, a new survey has revealed.
The majority of people surveyed in the latest NI Policing Board poll have some, a lot, or total confidence in the force’s ability to police Northern Ireland.
Eighty four per cent of participants have confidence in the police’s ability to provide an ordinary day-to-day policing service.
This marks an increase of 4% on the response recorded in September 2010’s survey.
In the latest poll, which was carried out during January 2012, 69% of those surveyed thought that the PSNI was doing a very/fairly good job.
Meanwhile, 68% were very/fairly satisfied that the police treat members of the public fairly.
Policing Board Chair Brian Rea, said: “While this result is welcome and overall the figures are generally positive, we know that there is still work to be done to improve the level of service and build confidence in policing services in some communities.
“The commitment from both the Board and the PSNI in achieving this is endorsed in the new style Policing Plan which has been designed to improve police service delivery, engagement with the community and how the PSNI works in partnership with other agencies.”
