Three men arrested over car bomb found in Londonderry (BBC News Northern Ireland)
Three men aged 54, 49 and 46 are being questioned about dissident republican activity after a car bomb was found in Londonderry.
The alert began on Monday afternoon at about 15:00 BST. Police officers stopped a car at Whitehouse on the Buncrana Road.
Three men were arrested. Army bomb experts were then called to the scene and the area was cordoned off.
The Army later confirmed that the device was a bomb.
The alert caused widespread disruption for motorists. Four homes were also evacuated.
It ended at 02:30 BST on Tuesday and the area has now returned to normal. Police have taken the car away for technical examination.
Meanwhile, police have recovered ammunition during an alert in Newry.
Derrybeg Lane in the city was closed for a time while the Army bomb squad was at the scene. Police have appealed for information.
Earlier on Monday, police in Lisburn removed a suspicious object. It was found after police were told a device had been thrown at a house.
