L’imputato, Roger Jorro Costa, è un ventottenne originario di Barcellona, ma residente presso Ulsterville Avenue a Belfast. L’accusa è di aver attentato alla vita della poliziotta durante i riots di Ardoyne seguiti alla parata orangista del Twelfth.
La vittima, le cui foto stesa sul marciapiede di Ardoyne hanno fatto il giro del mondo, era stata colpita nella concitazione da un blocco di cemento caduto dai tetti di alcuni negozi di Ardoyne ed ha riportato alcune ferite alla testa.
Alla corte di Belfast un detective ha riferito che ci sono le condizioni perchè Costa possa essere accusato di quel tentativo di omicidio, oltre al palese comportamente riottoso.
Ancora non è stato reso noto l’ammontare di un’ipotetica cauzione.
Gli arresti, già promessi dalla PSNI dopo le tre notti di rivolte in seguito al Twelfth, sono stati numerosi e non sembrano fermarsi. Un secondo uomo, Damien Power, è stato infatti arrestato con l’accusa di aver partecipato al riot, di assalto a pubblico ufficiale e tentativo di offesa.
Il ventiseienne Power è stato inoltre accusato di aver assaltato quattro poliziotti lo scorso weekend e di aver danneggiato un veicolo delle forze dell’ordine.

A Spanish man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a police woman during trouble in north Belfast on 12 July.
Roger Jorro Costa, 28, who is originally from Barcelona, but has an address at Ulsterville Avenue in Belfast, is accused of trying to kill the officer during rioting in Ardoyne.
The police woman suffered head injuries after a concrete block was thrown from the roof of Ardoyne shops.
Mr Costa was remanded in custody.
A detective sergeant told Belfast Magistrates Court he believed he could connect the accused – who also faces a charge of riotous assembly – to the charges.
Bail will be set at a later date.
An Orange Order march through Ardoyne on 12 July was followed by three nights of rioting.
A second man was also in court on four charges arising out of the same street violence at Ardoyne.
Damien Power, 26, from Rossnareen Avenue, Belfast, was charged with riotous assembly, assaulting a police officer, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to another officer and possessing a plank as an offensive weapon.
Mr Power was further charged with assaulting four police officers last weekend and attempting to damage a police vehicle.
He was remanded in custody to appear again by video link on 20 September.
