Decine di abitazioni evacuate. Numerose esplosioni controllate sul veicolo sospetto

Notte di allerta a West Belfast a causa di un veicolo sospetto abbandonato di fronte alla stazione del Police Service of Northern Ireland di New Barnsley.
Nella serata di mercoledì, la squadra artificieri dell’esercito era stata chiamata ad intervenire ma non si hanno notizie di telefonate di avvertimento.
Numerose le esplosione controllate attuate per rendere innocuo l’ipotetico carico esplosivo. La polizia dichiarando la fine dell’allerta, ha rivelato che nulla è stato trovato.
I dissidenti repubblicani ritenuti responsabili dell’azione.
Almeno 100 le famiglie evacuate a scopo precauzionale dalle proprie abitazione. Gli sfollati hanno trascorso la notte in un centro di accoglienza.
“Quello che ho visto è stato il caos totale e assoluto”, ha Frank McCoubrey, consigliere unionista  anche lui tra coloro che hanno dovuto abbandonare la propria dimora.
“Famiglie con bambini, persone anziane. Fino a 100 famiglie sono state evacuate dalle loro case, i bambini urlavano.
“Questa è una comunità che ha sofferto per mano della violenza di interfaccia nei 40 anni dei Troubles. Abbiamo pensato a quei giorni del passato”.

About 100 families were forced to leave their homes in an overnight bomb alert in west Belfast.
Army bomb experts carried out several controlled explosions on a car abandoned outside New Barnsley police station on Wednesday night.
The alert has now ended. Police said nothing was found.
Many people from the Springmartin area spent the night in a community centre. They have now been allowed to return home.
Dissident republicans are being blamed for two bomb attacks earlier this week.
A bomb exploded in Londonderry and an army major was targeted in a booby trap car bomb attack in Bangor.
Independent Unionist councillor Frank McCoubrey was among those who had to leave their homes on Wednesday night.
“What I have seen is total and utter chaos,” he said.
“Families lifting children, there were old age pensioners. Up to 100 families were moved from their homes, young children are screaming.
“This is a community that has suffered at the hands of interface violence and 40 years of the Troubles. We thought those days were in the past.”
