Matt Baggott ha conferito con il Policing Board sui disordini collegato alla Twelfth Parade

Trentotto gli arresti effettuati fino ad ora in relazione ai gravi disordini scoppiati ad Ardoyne in occasione della Twelfth Parade e per 4 notti consecutive. Ottantadue gli agenti di polizia rimasti feriti durante i riots caratterizzati da lanci di pietre, razzi e bombe molotov.
Matt Baggott, Chief Constable della PSNI ha conferito con i membri del Policing Board in risposta alle motivazioni che hanno portato la polizia ad adottare determinate tattiche. Il tutto si è concluso con il pieno appoggio del Policing Board così come sostenuto da Brian Rea.
“Dopo aver discusso con il Chief Constable l’operazione di polizia messi in atto per affrontare i gravi disordini, i membri del Policing Board sono stati unanimi nel sostenere le tattiche che la polizia ha usato”.
“I membri sono anche preoccupati che anche bambini di otto siano stati coinvolti nei disordini di Ardoyne e sono pienamente favorevoli alle misure che la PSNI, a fianco dei servizi sociali, prevedono di mettere in atto per affrontare questo grave problema”.

38 arrested over Ardoyne rioting (U TV)
It has been revealed that 38 people have been arrested in connection with the serious rioting in the Ardoyne area on the Twelfth.
The Chief Constable Matt Baggott briefed the Policing Board on Tuesday about the trouble, in which several police officers were injured.
Acting Chairman of the Board, Brian Rea, said Board members had ‘unanimously’ supported the police operation on the night.
“Having questioned the Chief Constable on the police operation put in place to deal with the serious disorder, Board Members were unanimous in their support of the tactics the police used,” Mr Rea said.
“Members are also concerned that children as young as eight were involved in the rioting in Ardoyne and are fully supportive of measures the PSNI, alongside Social Services, plan to put in place to tackle this serious problem,” he added.
During the serious disorder on 12 July, police were attacked with blast bombs and petrol bombs during several hours of rioting, which was blamed on dissident republicans.
