AUTO SEQUESTRATA A WEST BELFAST. E’ ALLERTA

Hijacked car in west Belfast alert (U TV)
Army bomb experts are examining a car which was hijacked and abandoned in west Belfast.
The red Vauxhall Corsa was taken from the Laurel Glen area by four masked men at around 4am on Thursday.
It was discovered abandoned on the Sommerhill Road at around 5am.
The area has been cordoned off at the junctions between the Sommerhill Road and Creightons Road, and up to Gardenmore Road.
The gang fled in the direction of Twinbrook.
Police have advised the public to avoid the area while the vehicle is dealt with by bomb experts.
The PSNI have appealed for more information.
SDLP councillor Brian Heading spoke of the “widespread disruption” caused to people in the area by the security alert.
“The people of Twinbrook are yet again the victims of another criminal act which has brought this community to a standstill,” he said.
“This has caused widespread traffic disruption to local residents and has prevented businesses from trading normally in what is an already tough economic climate.
“I urge those responsible for this activity to desist so that people in this area can get on with their lives in peace.”
