VIOLENTI SCONTRI NELLA NOTTE. APERTO IL FUOCO CONTRO LA POLIZIA.
Violenti scontri nella notte a North Belfast. Feriti 3 poliziotti da colpi di arma da fuoco.
Un uomo armato ha aperto il fuoco durante i violenti scontri che si sono consumati la scorsa notte a North Belfast.
Circa 200 i rivoltosi che si sono adoperati in lanci di molotov e razzi.
La PSNI ha cercato di sedare i disordini ricorrendo all’utilizzo di cannoni ad acqua e raffiche di proiettili di gomma.
Tre i poliziotti feriti da colpi di arma da fuoco. Uno di loro è attualmente ricoverato, ma le sue condizioni non destano preoccupazioni.
Un bollettino di guerra quello della scorsa notte: altri 11 agenti sono rimasti feriti in scontri avvenuti in North Queen Street; 13 agenti feriti nell’area di Broadway a West Belfast, 24 i feriti nei riots.

Three police officers shot, 24 injured in rioting (U TV)
Three police officers have been shot during serious rioting in north Belfast.
A gunman opened fire during the disturbances which happened at North Queen Street late on Sunday night.
Police say up to 200 people were involved in the trouble.
Petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown during the serious disturbances.
The PSNI water cannon was used and several baton rounds were fired.
Two male police officers and a policewoman suffered gunshot wounds.
One of the male police officers remains in hospital, although his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Eleven other officers were hurt during the rioting at North Queen Street.
In west Belfast, 13 officers were injured during serious disturbances in the Broadway area.
The Acting Chairman of the Policing Board, Brian Rea, condemned the serious disorder
“My thoughts are first and foremost with the family and colleagues of all the officers who were injured; and particularly with the officer who was shot.
“This is very shocking news and the level of violence directed at police must be condemned. At this time I would call for calm right across the community,” he said.
