David Black murder: Woman charged with perverting course of justice (BBC News Northern Ireland)

An unemployed single mother from County Armagh has appeared in court in connection with the murder of prison officer David Black.

Fiona McFadden, from Killough Gardens, Lurgan, is accused of trying to pervert the course of justice.

She is accused of supplying a false alibi for a murder suspect on the day after Mr Black was killed.

Mr Black was shot dead on the M1 in County Armagh as he went to work at Maghaberry Prison in November 2012.

The 52-year-old father of two was the first prison officer in NI to be murdered in almost 20 years.

Fiona McFadden was granted bail on the condition that she made no contact with two men who are already facing charges connected to the killing.

They are Damien McLaughlin, who is charged with supplying the car used by Mr Black’s killers, and Sean McVeigh who is charged with Mr Black’s murder.
