PSNI injured on third night of trouble (UTV)

Three police officers have been injured when they came under attack during a third night of disorder in north Belfast.
Fireworks, bricks and stones were pelted at officers in the Carlisle Circus area from a loyalist crowd in Denmark Street.

The groups gathered during the evening and fireworks were thrown just before 10pm.

Water cannon moved into the area, but was not deployed and retreated at around 11pm.

The Antrim Road was sealed off by police but has since reopened.
The injured officers did not require hospital treatment and six people were detained at the scene and remain in custody.

More than 50 officers have been injured in three nights of disorder in the area, which started after a Republican march on Sunday.

Three men, aged 18, 19, and 20 have been charged with riotous assembly and are expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old is also charged with resisting police, indecent behaviour, and possession of a blade in a public place and three counts of assault on police.

The 18-year-old is facing three counts of assault on police.

Two boys aged 15 and 17 are due at Belfast Youth Court on Wednesday charged with riotous assembly.

They are all charged in relation to trouble close to Carlisle Circus on Monday night.
