ANCORA UN FURGONE IN FIAMME A CRAIGAVON

Vans hijacked in Craigavon trouble (UTV News)
A second van has been torched in Craigavon, after one was earlier hijacked and burnt out by an armed gang
Fresh public disorder erupted in the Tullygally area of the Co Armagh town on Thursday evening.
Diversions have been put in place, with the Tullygally Road closed to traffic as well as the roundabout at Brownlow Road, near the school.
Motorists have been warned to expect delays, and have been urged to seek other routes.
Police said a vehicle was hijacked and set on fire in the Legahory area on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier, two masked men – one of them believed to have been armed with a gun – hijacked a van in the Tullygally area.
Police said the white van was then set on fire close to the Drumbeg roundabout at around 11.30am.
They also dealt with a number of reports of public disorder in the area.
It comes after violence erupted in Lurgan on Wednesday night, as two vehicles were hijacked and burned out in the Lake Street area close to the railway line.
The violence flared as the President of Republican Sinn Féin Des Dalton was arrested on his way to Craigavon for a rally in support of dissident republican prisoners in Maghaberry.
Local Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd : “All these people are doing is damaging the community in Lurgan and services to that community.”
“I challenge the people behind these actions to stand over them and spell out what exactly is being achieved by bringing fear, upheaval and unnecessary disruption to their community.”
Upper Bann UUP MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said: “People have a right to live in peace in their own homes and to drive around the streets without being attacked by thugs. The Police are also entitled to go about their business without facing regular attacks such as these.”
