Attacco settario nel nome dell’UDA  a Derry. Famiglia cattolica residente nel Waterside, abbandona la casa da più di 20 anni

Out out di 24 ore ad una famiglia cattolica residente nel Waterside a Derry. A minacciarla, una banda di 8 o 9 uomini armati di martello che hanno fatto irruzione in casa urlanda ‘UDA, UDA, UDA!”.
Il fatto è accaduto nelle prime ore di domenica mattina.
“Questo è stato un attacco del tutto ingiustificato e non provocata da noi”, ha dichiarato il capo famiglia. “Nelle prime ore di domenica, mio figlio Saul era uscito di casa per andare a prendere un pacchetto di sigarette al distributore 24/24 h quando tre ragazzi lo hanno fermato e chiesto dove fosse la festa, ma quando ha loro risposto che non c’era alcuna festa, lo hanno aggredito”.
“Lui è riuscito a scappare, ma lo hanno seguito vedendolo tornare a casa e la prima cosa che sappiamo è che hanno scagliato un grande masso contro il finestrino della nostra auto”.
«Abbiamo telefonato alla polizia e, mentre eravamo attendevamo che arrivasse abbiamo sentito bussare alla porta e credavano fosse la polizia, ma ci siamo trovati di fronte a questa banda di otto o nove uomini brandendo martelli hanno fatto irruzione urlando per casa <<UDA! UDA! UDA!>>  più e più volte”.
“Hanno colpito Saul con il martello, hanno colpito anche me, ed hanno scaraventato la credenza addosso a mia moglie. Nel frattempo mio nipote è stato colto da crisi isterica, ma non si sono fermati”.
“Ci hanno detto che avevamo 24 ore per andarcene e ho pensato che stavano per uccidere uno di noi. Alla fine se ne sono andati, ma non prima di rompere ogni finestra che era a portata di mano e i finestrini di entrambe le vetture. ”
La famiglia ha deciso di non far più ritorno in quella casa dove ha abitato per più di 20 anni.

Loyalist thugs force family to vacate their home of 20 years (Belfast Telegraph)
A Catholic family forced to flee their Londonderry home by a hammer-wielding sectarian gang have said they will not go back to the house they have lived in for more than 20 years.
Gerry and Isobel Simpson were confronted by the gang at their Waterside home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The mob shouted “UDA” repeatedly before warning them they had 24 hours to leave their Rossdowney Gardens house. They then attacked Mr Simpson, his wife and their 19-year-old son Saul, and woke up the couple’s grandson who was left in hysterics.
The gang also smashed windows and furniture in the house, as well as windscreens in the family’s two cars before leaving.
Mr Simpson said the ordeal has left them homeless and so traumatised they had no choice but to abandon the house they planned to enjoy their retirement in.
He said: “This was a totally unwarranted and unprovoked attack on us. In the early hours my son Saul left the house to go and get a packet of cigarettes at the 24-hour shop where three boys stopped him and asked him where the party was, but when he told them there was no party they just attacked him.
“He managed to get away, but they ran after him and saw that he came home, and the next thing we knew they threw a big boulder through our car window.
“We rang the police and while we were waiting for them to arrive we heard knocking at the door and assumed it was the police, but we were faced with this gang of eight or nine men with hammers who burst into the house shouting ‘UDA! UDA! UDA!’ over and over again.
“They were hitting Saul with the hammer and they hit me as well, but they also threw a dresser at my wife. And all the while my young grandson was in hysterics, but they just would not stop.
“They told us we had 24 hours to get out and I thought they were going to kill one of us. They eventually left but not before smashing every window that was within reach and in both cars.”
Mr Simpson added: “We are living day-by-day and still have no idea where we will be housed but we won’t go back, of that I am sure.”
