Iniziati la scorsa settimana i colloqui tra i gruppi dei residenti di Ardoyne e il Parades Forum lealista. Il comunicato del GARC

Una dichiarazione congiunta emessa nella giornata di ieri 30 marzo, i gruppi dei residenti di Ardoyne il Parades Forum lealista, hanno confermato l’inizio dei colloqui sul controverso argomento delle parate alla vigilia della stagione 2011.
Scopo prioritario, evitare il ripetersi degli scontri che anche lo scorso anno hanno messo a ferro e fuoco l’interfaccia di Ardoyne in occasione della parata del 12 luglio (The Twelfth).
I portavoci di entrambe la parti in causa hanno confermato l’intenzione di voler tenere al corrente la comunità dei prossimi sviluppi, ma ritengono necessario venga loro consentito ‘spazio’ sufficiente per poter portare avanti le trattative.

“I nostri sforzi saranno concentrati sul tentativo di raggiungere un accordo che possa essere favorevole ad entrambi i gruppi e le comunità che serviamo”, ha dichiarato Winston Irvine, del North and West Belfast Parades Forum.
“Chiediamo quindi spazio per sviluppare questo processo ed assicurare che questi sforzi non vengano compromessi in alcun modo”, ha aggiunto Joe Marley del Crumlin Ardoyne Residents Association (CARA).
La Commissione Parate ha accolto con favore i colloqui in corsi, dichiarando: “La Commissione accoglie con favore il dialogo che si sta svolgendo e ci congratuliamo con coloro che stanno dimostrando la leadership in questa area”.
“E ‘importante che agli interessati vengano concessi tempo e spazio per condurre i loro colloqui e la Commissione è favorevole a questo.”
Ad andare contro corrente è il GARC (Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective), che ha giudicato i colloqui ‘privi di senso’.

Indipendentemente da quanti incontri C.A.R.A. e il North/West Belfast  Forum Parades in atto ora e in futuro. Essi sono privi di significato senza il consenso e l’approvazione del maggior numero dei residenti di Ardoyne. Così come il C.A.R.A., non rappresentano la maggioranza dei residenti in questa comunità.
Verso la fine del 2009, un sondaggio sostanziale è stato condotto dal Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (GARC), con cui la maggioranza dei residenti locali aveva chiaramente affermato che il Loyal Order Parades non erano i benvenuti alla nostra comunità. I risultati di questa indagine è stata ignorata dal CARA, dal North and West Belfast Forum Parades e da un certo numero di partiti politici a causa delle agende politiche.
Senza prendere in considerazione il nostro sondaggio e senza affrontare le preoccupazioni di TUTTI i residenti della comunità Great Ardoyne. C.A.R.A. non ha il diritto di raggiungere un compromesso con chi si ostina a marciare dove non è il benvenuto!
Come parte di tali preoccupazioni, il GARC continuerà ad opporsi pacificamente alle sgradite marce settarie attraverso Ardoyne.

Ardoyne talks to calm parade tensions (UTV)
Talks are underway between an Ardoyne residents group and the loyalist Parades Forum in a bid to ease tensions ahead of the parading season.
A joint statement from both parties on Wednesday said meetings have been taking place since last week.
Trouble flared in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast surrounding a contentious Orange Order march in 2010.
Co-operative efforts are now being made to prevent similar scenes.
Spokesmen from the two groups said they will be keeping the local community informed on developments, but have called for “space” to allow the process to continue.
Winston Irvine, of the North and West Belfast Parades Forum, said: “Our efforts will be focused on trying to reach an arrangement that will be mutually acceptable to both groups and the wider community that we serve”.
Joe Marley from the Crumlin Ardoyne Residents Association (CARA) said: “We therefore ask for space to develop this process and trust that these efforts will not be undermined in any way”.
They said people should “resist making unhelpful speculation” so that any progress can be reported in a responsible manner to the communities involved.
The Parades Commission has welcomed the move, saying: “The Commission welcomes the dialogue which is taking place and we commend those who are showing leadership in this area.
“It is important that those involved are afforded time and space to conduct their talks and the Commission is supportive of that.”
However another local group, the Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (GARC), called the talks “meaningless” without the approval of the wider community.
“Regardless of how many meetings CARA and the Parades Forum have now and in the future, they are meaningless without the consent and approval of the greater number of Ardoyne residents,” a statement said.
“CARA does not represent the majority of residents in this community. As part of those serious concerns, GARC will continue to peacefully oppose unwelcome sectarian marches through Ardoyne.”

Regardless of how many meetings C.A.R.A. and the North/West Belfast Parades Forum have now and in the future. They are meaningless without the consent and approval of the greater number of Ardoyne residents. As C.A.R.A. do not represent the majority of residents in this community.
A substantive survey was conducted by the Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective (GARC) towards the end of 2009, in which the majority of local residents clearly stated that Loyal Order Parades were not welcome through our community. The findings of this survey has been ignored by C.A.R.A., the North/West Parades Forum and a number of political Parties because of political agendas.
Without taking our survey into account and addressing the concerns of ALL residents in the Greater Ardoyne community. C.A.R.A. do not have the right to reach an accomadation with those who insist on marching where they are not welcome!
