L’annuncio dopo la votazione in favore della candidatura nel corso dell’annuale Árd-Fheis

“E’ il momento giusto per fare un intervento elettorale”, con queste parole il Presidente del Partito Brian Leeson annuncia la partecipazione di éirigí alle prossime elezioni generali in Irlanda del Nord, in programma il prossimo 5 maggio.
“éirigí non si fa illusioni sulla natura della politica elettorale nelle Sei Contee e, anzi, in tutta l’Irlanda”.
“Siamo convinti che ci sia un vero interesse per l’emergere di una voce radicale dalla working class, che sfidi con forza l’occupazione britannica, lo sfruttamento economico e la deprivazione”.
“In definitiva, i tagli che vengono attuati dal governo britannico e la sua amministrazione-fantoccio a Stormont dovranno essere sconfitti nelle strade, all’interno delle comunità e nei luoghi di lavoro”.
éirigí, che si autodefinisce parito social repubblicano, fu costituito a Dublino nel 2006.

Republican party éirigí will contest the forthcoming local elections in Northern Ireland after voting in favour of the move at their annual Árd-Fheis on Sunday.
Party Chairman Brian Leeson said that five years on from the formation of the group, the party felt “the time is right to make an electoral intervention.”
“éirígí has no illusions about the nature of electoral politics in the Six Counties and, indeed, across Ireland,” he said.
“We believe there is a real appetite for a radical voice to emerge from working class communities that will forcefully challenge the British occupation and economic exploitation and deprivation.”
Leeson added: “Ultimately, the cuts that are being implemented by the British government and its puppet administration at Stormont will have to be defeated on the streets, in our communities and in people’s workplaces.”
éirigí, who described themselves as a socialist Republic political party, was originally formed in Dublin in 2006 by a group of political activists as a campaigns group.
The 2011 Assembly and council elections in Northern Ireland will be held on 5 May.
