Un quarantanovenne è stato arrestato dalla polizia irlandese alle 20.20, dopo che un’auto è stata bloccata a Cooladawson vicino a Stranorlar.
Altri tre uomini a bordo dell’auto sono fuggiti attraverso la campagna. Rivenuta anche un’arma da fuoco.
L’auto è stata sequestrata e si trova attualmente al vaglio degli investigatori.
Numerosi posti di blocco della Garda sono stati istituiti nell’area di confine del Donegal, così come un posto di blocco della PSNI si trova in territorio nordirlandese a sostegno dell’attività della polizia irlandese.

Suspected dissident attack foiled (BBC News Northern Ireland)
A suspected attack by dissident republicans in County Donegal has been foiled by Irish police.
A 49-year-old man was arrested at 2020 GMT on Tuesday after they stopped a car at Cooladawson near Stranorlar.
Three other men who were in the car ran off across fields. A firearm was also recovered. The car has been taken away for examination.
Searches are continuing in Donegal, and Gardai have set up a number of checkpoints near the border.
The PSNI have also established a checkpoint on the northern side in support of the Garda operation.
