25.000 STERLINE IN SPESE LEGALI PER SUZANNE BREEN
Suzanne Breen potrebbe vedersi costretta a far fronte a 25.000 sterline di spese legali, per la recente causa vinta contro il Police Service of Northern Ireland
Potrebbe essere molto salato il conto da saldare per Suzanne Breen, uscita vincente dalla causa legale contro la PSNI, lo scorso giugno.
Suzanne Breen, giornalista del Sunday Tribune, era stata portata davanti alla Corte dalla PSNI, per costringerla a rivelare le sue fonti Real IRA oltre a tutta la documentazione raccolta, in relazione all’attentato alla base armata di Massereene (7 marzo 2009).
La PSNI aveva questa unica scelta per tentare di accedere a prove significative nelle indagini sulla strage firmata dal Real IRA.
Lo scorso giugno, il giudice si espresse in favore della Breen e il procedimento si concluse con l’accordo che ognuna della due parti in causa ,avrebbe provveduto al saldo delle rispettive spese legali.

Suzanne Breen could be hit with a £25,000 legal bill despite winning a landmark case against the PSNI.
The police had been seeking to force the journalist to hand over material relating to the Real IRA’s claim of responsibility for the murder of two soldiers at Massereene barracks last March.
At Belfast Recorder’s Court the PSNI opposed an application by Ms. Breen – the northern editor of Sunday Tribune – for the costs she incurred at the hearing last June.

This had resulted in Judge Tom Burgess ruling in her favour because of the risk to her life if she agreed to the police request.
A lawyer for the PSNI urged Judge Burgess not to make any order for costs, which would mean each side paying their own legal bills.
The lawyer said the Chief Constable had no alternative but to bring the action in order to attempt to secure access to significant evidence relating to the double murder and wounding of four others.
