ALLARME BOMBA: ISOLATO UN VILLAGGIO DELLA CONTEA DI TYRONE. FORSE UN DISPOSITIVO DI 600 LIBRE

Il villaggio di Clady è isolato da ieri sera a seguito di un allarme bomba. Si potrebbe trattare di un dispositivo contenente 600 libre di esplosivo

Chiuse le vie di accesso a Clady, villaggio della contea di Tyrone, dopo che alcune telefonate hanno segnalato un furgone sospetto parcheggiato sul ponte di Urney Road. La polizia sarebbe stata avvisata della presenza di un dispositivo di 600 libre di esplosivo.
Il mezzo, con i segnalatori di emergenza accesse, è stato notato verso le 21 di ieri 14 ottobre. A darne testimonianza anche Gerard Foley, consigliere indipendente, che ha affermato: “Siamo riamsti in piedi fermi a osservarlo per dieci o quindici minuti e abbiamo pensato, c’è qualcosa che non va qui”,
“Così abbiamo isolato la strada e sistemato dei coni dall’altra parte della strada, e poi abbiamo telefonato alla polizia”.
Derek Hussey ha espresso ‘condanna senza riserve’, soprattutto per i danni causati al traffico e ha aggiunto: “Un incidente come questo serve solo ad accrescere le preoccupazioni all’interno della comunità, in particolare nel contesto delle recenti attività dissidenti in tutta la provincia”.
Pat Doherty, rappresentante politico dell’area, ha affermato che sono trascorse 14 ore dall’allarme ma ancora nessuna notizia certa.
“Ovviamente mi piacerebbe vedere questa situazione chiarita il più presto possibile”.
“I residenti non sanno cosa stia succedendo, e sono in apprensione”.
“Hanno bisogno di essere tenuti informati su ciò che sta succedendo quì”.
“Chiunque abbia parcheggiato lì il furgone o piazzato il dispositivo, se vi è un dispositivo, deve smetterla”.
“E’ una disgrazia”.

Police warned about ‘600lb bomb’ (BBC News Northern Ireland)
Police have confirmed that they were told a 600lb bomb has been left in a van in Clady, near Strabane.
The vehicle was abandoned on a bridge in the village on Wednesday night with its hazard warning lights on.
The police have closed a number of roads leading to the village as the security alert continues.
Police said they received the warning by telephone. Locals noticed a van parked on the Urney Road Bridge at about 2100 BST.
Independent councillor Gerard Foley was one of the first to come across the van.
“We stood and looked at it for about 10 or 15 minutes and we said, ‘there’s something not right here’,” he said.
“So we cordoned off the street and put cones across the road, and then we phoned the police.
“There is no support in this community for what is happening, (people) don’t want this in Clady at all.”

Ulster Unionist councillor Derek Hussey said he “unreservedly condemned” the disruption caused by the incident.
“The closure of a cross-border road has caused a great deal of traffic disruption.
“An incident such as this only serves to heighten concerns within the community, particularly in the context of the recent dissident activity across the province,” he said.
West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty said that 14 hours had now passed since the police first received the warning.
“Obviously I would like to see this situation cleared up as quickly as possible.
“The residents don’t know what’s going on, and they’re apprehensive.
“They need to be kept informed as to what’s going to happen here.
“Whoever parked the van there or planted the device, if there is a device, really needs to catch themselves on.
“It’s a disgrace,” he said.
