The Five Demands

Nove persone sono state rinviate a giudizio dalla Ballymena Magistrates Court. L’udienza si terrà presso la Coleraine Magistrates’ Court il prossimo 8 giugno. Tutti gli imputati hanno negato le accuse.
Questa mattina in aula di tribunale, 17 poliziotti in tenuta anti sommossa hanno accerchiato i 70 lealisti presenti, mentre dall’altra capo altri poliziotti si sono schierati a scudo umano di amici e familiari di Kevin McDaid (tra cui uno dei suoi 4 figli). L’udienza si è conclusa dopo 30 minuti senza alcun incidente.
Ecco i nomi e le accuse di cui dovrà rispondere ogni distinto imputato:
David Craig Cochrane, 18 anni, di Windyhill Park. Dovrà rispondere dell’accusa di omicidio e di tentato omicidio.
David James Cochrane, padre del diciottenne, 42 anni, di Lisnablagh Road. Dovrà rispondere dell’accusa di tentato omicidio.
Ivan Beattie McDowell, 42 anni, di Lisnablagh Road. Dovrà rispondere dell’accusa di tentato omicidio.
John Thompson, 29 anni, di Daneshill Road. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di omicidio, tentato omicidio e aggressione.
Frank Simpson Daly, 48 anni, di Rosemary Place. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di omicidio, tentato omicidio e di aggressione ai danni di Evelyn McDaid (moglie della vittima) e Leona Whittaker.
Christopher McDowell, 33 anni, di Glebe Avenue. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di omicidio e tentato omicidio.
Aaron Thomas Beech, 23 anni, di Windyhall Park. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di tentato omicidio e aggressione.
Paul Andrew Newman, 40 anni, di Grassmere Close. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di omicidio e tentato omicidio.
John McGrath, 50 anni, di Hawthorne Place. Dovrà rispondere delle accuse di omicidio, tentato omicidio e aggressione ai danni di Evelyn McDaid.

Sempre nella giornata di oggi, sono avvenuti altri due arresti in connessione all’omicidio McDaid.  Si tratta di due uomini di Coleraine, di 33 e 53 anni.

Nine charged with McDaid murder (Coleraine Times)
Nine men have been charged in connection with the murder of Kevin McDaid and attempted murder of Damien Fleming in Coleraine at the weekend.
Six were charged with murder and attempted murder, two with attempted murder and one with affray.
The men were remanded in custody at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday. They all deny the charges.
At the hearing 17 armed police in riot gear ringed over 70 loyalists who filled the public benches.
On the other side of the court, more police provided a human shield around friends and family members of Mr McDaid, including one of his four sons.
The 30-minute hearing passed without incident after District Judge Philip Mateer warned anyone shouting in court would be removed and dealt with.
All accused were remanded in custody to reappear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court by video link on June 8.
Those accused are:
David Craig Cochrane, 18, of Windyhill Park, charged with the murder of Mr McDaid and attempted murder.
His father, David James Cochrane, 47, of Windyhill Park, followed him into the dock accused of causing an affray
Ivan Beattie McDowell, 42, of Lisnablagh Road was charged with attempted murder.
John Thompson, 29, of Daneshill Road was charged with murder, attempted murder and assault.
Frank Simpson Daly, 48, of Rosemary Place was charged with murder, attempted murder and assaulting Evelyn McDaid and Leona Whittaker.
