Sembra che le dichiarazioni del Real IRA rilasciate in occasione della commemorazione dell’Easter Rising organizzata dal 32 County Sovereignty Movement (32 CSM) lo scorso lunedì, non siano state lasciate cadere nel vuoto nonostante siano mancate reazioni ufficiali da parte degli organi di sicurezza.
Dopo la rivendicazione dell’omicidio di Denis Donaldson avvenuto nel 2006, la polizia ha ritenuto ora opportuno mettere sotto protezione un ex dissidente repubblicano di Derry, oggi informatore.
L’uomo sarebbe stato oggetto lo scorso anno di alcuni attentati falliti alla sua vita, nei pressi della sua casa a St. Johnston. Lo scorso settembre è rimasto ferito durante un attacco, pare messo a segno dal Real IRA, a Transallagh. Mesi più tardi era stata collegata una pipe bomb ad un serbatoio presso la sua abitazione, ma l’ordigno esplose solo parzialmente. E’ stato riferito che l’ex dissidente – presumibilmente ex membro del Real IRA – si sia trasferito da St. Johnston, dopo l’attacco.
E’ recentemente trapelato che l’uomo avrebbe consegnato alla polizia una mazza con la quale venne abbattuta la porta del cottage nei dintorni di Glenties, dove fu assassinato Denis Donaldson nell’aprile 2006.
Un portavoce del Garda ha dichiarato che “per ragioni operative” non  sono  in grado di commentare o discutere le ultime rivelazioni.

A Londonderry man has been taken into protective custody by police in the Republic, amidst speculation that he could hold vital information about the murder of former Sinn Féin apparatchik and spy Denis Donaldson, it has been claimed.
According to reports in a number of media outlets the man is a former dissident republican – turned police informant – who was subject to a number of attempts on his life at his St Johnston home last year.
It has now been claimed that the man has led detectives to a sledgehammer used to break down the door of the remote Glenties cottage in which Mr Donaldson, aged 56, was shot dead in April 2006.
A garda spokesperson said that “for operational reasons” gardai were not in a position to comment on or discuss the latest revelations.
In September last year the Real IRA were blamed for an attack near the man’s home at Transallagh, St Johnston, during which he received gunshot wounds.
Months later a pipe bomb device attached to the oil tank of the man’s house partially exploded. It has been reported that the man – an alleged former member of the Real IRA – moved from St Johnston after the attack.
