Esplosione avvenuta nelle prime di venerdì. Nessun ferito

Una pipe bomb è stata lanciata nell’abitazione di John Smyth Jnr, consigliere DUP, attraverso la finestra della sua  camera da letto.
L’incidente è avvenuto alle 4 circa del mattino di oggi. Si è sviluppato un incendio di lieve entità, che ha provocato solo danni ma nessun ferito.
“Ero seduto in soggiorno quando ho sentito un grande fragore dovuto alla rottura del vetro della finestra e poi un botto di grandi dimensioni come un fuoco d’artificio”, ha testimoniato Smith.
“Sono andato in sala da dove ho visto fumo fuoriuscire dalla mia camera da letto.
“Sono andato in camera mia e c’era del fuoco che ho spento ed ho notato una pipe bomb sul letto”.
“Ero scioccato, non riuscivo a capire perché fossi stato mirato, perché ho ​​lavorato tanto per la comunità locale”.
“L’unica cosa che posso pensare è perchè sono un candidato alle elezioni locali, e a causa della mia presa di posizione in materia di droga”.

Bomb explodes at DUP councillor’s home (UTV)
A pipebomb exploded at the house of a DUP councillor in Antrim in the early hours of Friday morning.
The device was thrown through a bedroom window at the home of John Smyth Jnr in the Seacash area of Antrim at 4am.
Mr Smyth is running as a candidate in the upcoming May election.
A small fire broke out but was quickly extinguished by Mr Smyth who escaped uninjured.
“I was sitting in the living room and I heard a large crash and a smash of my windows breaking and then a large bang like a firework going off”, Mr Smith said.
“I went to my hall where I seen smoke bellowing from my bedroom.
“I went into my bedroom and there was a fire and I put it out and noticed a pipebomb device on the bed.
“I was in utter shock; I couldn’t understand why I had been targeted, because I have worked so hard for the local community.
“The only thing I can think of is I am a candidate in the local election plus because of my stance on drugs.”
Police want anyone who may have information about the attack to contact them.
