RNU will oppose G8 in Fermanagh (RNU)

Republican Network for Unity intends to resolutely oppose the decision by British Prime Minister David Cameron to host the G8 summit in County Fermanagh in June 2013.

The purpose of the G8 summit is to maintain the economic supremacy of the World Financial Elite using the political power of the world’s eight richest countries.

This economic mission has created untold levels of poverty and suffering the world over and is currently attacking the living standards and sovereignty of the Irish people, as financial institutions under the influence of G8 (such as the International Monetary Fund) continue to inflict cruel austerity measures on our people.

G8 leaders are in the business of off-loading the cost of deficits (created by bailing out the world’s financial institutions) onto working class people, they are also intent on eroding safeguards built into international legislation which in the past protected workers’ rights, human rights and local and global environmental priorities.

It is our intention to oppose the G8 in Ireland, in the knowledge and belief that the International Capitalist system that institution seeks to maintain is the root cause of many of the world’s economic, political and environmental ills.

As always we call for Unity amongst republicanism and the left, as this is the most efficient and effective way to strive for political resistance in Ireland.
