RAAD issue warning over alleged paedophile (Strabane Chronicle)
VIGILANTE organisation Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) has issued a chilling warning against what they claim is a paedophile living in Sion Mills.
On Tuesday, the violent micro-group said it had been contacted by a group of mothers about an individual in the village. RAAD urged people in Sion Mills to be vigilant and said it was investigating the matter.
“We are investigating this and if it turns out to be true, we will take immediate action,” a spokesperson said.
Sion Mills community worker Andy Patton said he could not comment on the threat by Republican Action Against Drugs but added that he had been made aware of the situation by local residents. Mr Patton said he would be taking the matter up with the PSNI as a matter of urgency.
“My concerns are community based and when I’m approached by residents about something like this then it’s my duty to report it to the police. And I’ll be doing that as soon as possible,” Mr Patton said.
Responding to the warning by RAAD, the PSNI said that they could not discuss the security of any individual. “If we receive information that a person’s life may be at risk we will inform them accordingly. We never ignore anything which may put an individual at risk,” a police spokesperson said.
