ST. PATRICK’S DAY. PARATA LEALISTA SFILA PACIFICAMENTE

Loyalist St Patrick’s parade passes peacefully (NewsLetter)
A loyalist band parade held in Armagh on St Patrick’s Day has passed off peacefully.
The march – organised by Cormeen Rising Sons of William Flute Band – was held on Saturday evening, hours after the council-run festivities in the historic city.
UUP MLA Danny Kennedy praised the parade organisers and expressed the hope it could become an annual cultural event in Armagh.
Mr Kennedy said it had always been his view that the parade would pass without a hitch, but he severely criticised the “almost hysterical manufactured opposition from some republican and nationalist political representatives”.
Such people, he said: “should reflect on their actions and words, which could have resulted in stirring up trouble where none existed”.
Nationalists and republicans had objected to the parade, despite a ruling by the Parades Commission allowing it to proceed.
