Veicolo sospetto nell’area di Weavers Hill Court. Evacuate 80 abitazioni

L’allarme è scattato alle 23 di ieri sera dopo la segnalazione di un’auto sospetta in sosta nell’area di Weavers Hill Court a North Belfast.
Evacuate 80 abitazioni, i cui occupanti sono stati fatti convergere presso un centro sociale nelle vicinanze. Ambulanze all’opera per cercare di trasportare celermente le persone anziane. Cordonata Ligoniel Road in entrambi i sensi di marcia.
Le notizie parlano di  un’esplosione controllata su di un ordigno almeno.
A fornire una testimonianza dell’accaduto è Bernie Kelly del Belfast Trust Emergency.
“Abboiamo ricevuto una telefonata dopo la mezzanotte, io stesso insieme al Belfast City Council hanno sostenuto le famiglie”.
“Avevamo alcuni letti, ce n’erano circa 20. C’erano quasi 50 persone a partire dai bambini piccoli fino agli anziani più deboli”.
“Recentemente siamo stati in grado di ottenere un panificio locale aperto a comprare baps e rotoli di salsiccia per loro”.
“Dopo mezzanotte abbiamo ricevuto una chiamata, io stesso insieme a Belfast City Council hanno sostenuto le famiglie,” Ms Kelly ha detto UTV.
“Abbiamo avuto alcuni letti, non c’è letto per circa 20. C’è quasi 50 ecco che vanno dai bambini piccoli fino ai anziani fragili.

Hundreds evacuated in city alert (U TV)
Hundreds of people have been moved from their homes while army bomb squad officers tackle a security alert in north Belfast.
Up to 80 homes have been evacuated after a suspicious car was reported in the Weavers Hill Court area of the city at around 11pm on Wednesday, sparking the alert.
Hundreds of local residents are taking shelter in a nearby community centre. Two ambulances have been sent in to help evacuate elderly people.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on at least one device, it is understood.
Bernie Kelly from the Belfast Trust emergency response team is with the residents.
“After midnight we received a call, myself along with Belfast City Council have been supporting families,” Ms Kelly told UTV.
“We’ve had some beds, there’s bedding for about 20. There’s almost 50 here ranging from young children right through to frail elderly.
“Recently we’ve been able to get a local bakery open to buy baps and sausage rolls for them.”
Cordons have been erected and the Ligoniel Road has been closed in both directions.
