Sarà Paul Maguire a condurre l’indagine sull’operato di Peter Robinson in relazione ad un presunto illecito finanziario della moglie Iris

Il governo ha nominato l’avvocato Paul Maguire alla guida dell’indagine atta a stabilire eventuali violazioni di legge da parte di Peter Robinson accusato di non aver prontamente informato gli organi competenti delle operazioni finanziarie avviate dalla moglie Iris a favore del suo baby-amante Kirk McCambley.
Peter Robinson nega ogni responsabilità.
Iris Robinson la scorsa settimana è uscita ufficialmente dallo scenario politico nordirlandese, e si troverebbe ora sottoposta a terapia psichiatrica.

A senior lawyer will lead the investigation into allegations of wrongdoing by DUP leader Peter Robinson.
Paul Maguire QC has been appointed by the government following a public request by the First Minister.
Mr Robinson denies the allegations of a BBC Spotlight programme that he failed to alert the relevant authorities regarding his wife’s financial affairs.
According to the programme, Iris Robinson secured two separate loans totalling £50,000 from property developers to help her young lover, Kirk McCambley, set up a business venture.
Mrs Robinson, who is currently receiving acute psychiatric care for depression, has since stepped down from politics following the revelations.
Castlereagh Borough Council, of which she was was a member, has set up an independent inquiry.
The Assembly’s Standards and Privileges Committee is also to investigate the Robinson’ conduct.
Mr Robinson has stepped aside as First Minister for a temporary period as he focuses on clearing his name.
Party colleague Arlene Foster currently holds the role of Acting First Minister.
